The Book

Book title Tales from the Mystery Tour
Sub title Magical Memories & Beatle encounters 1967
By Keith Gray.

The forthcoming book, currently in process, features a great selection of personal memories, original photo’s and background detail from the making of their third movie,
Magical Mystery Tour.

As we know, the group toured from their London base to Cornwall and Kent in pursuit of suitable filming locations and there was no advance news of the tour, or the route.
So consequently when the group took a break along the way, or arrived at their destinations, it was down to pure chance that the general public, holidaymakers and fans alike, found themselves in such close contact with pop music’s’ elite, thus making those encounters with the Fab Four all the more special.
These personal and enduring memories from various places on the ‘tour’, contrasting with the inside stories of some of the passengers on the bus, and behind the scenes, form the basis of the book.

This is September 1967, love and peace, fabulous fashion and flower power, a time piece – in words and pictures.

Read of the Egg-man, meeting up with The Beatles in Newquay, the lady from Kent, a huge fan whose personal collection included the very hat that John Lennon wore while selling Ringo his Mystery Tour tickets at the start of the film. Pop star Spencer Davis talks of his night in a pub with Paul and Ringo. Neil Innes, of the ‘60’s fun group ‘The Bonzo Dog Do Dah Band’, remembers that controversial stripper sequence!
Many, many more experiences are shared; including the havoc caused getting the bus stuck on a narrow bridge in Devon!

Also, the full background story to the making of the Rockumentary DVD,
The Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour Memories (released in 2008)
This also originated from the Mystery Tour Revival and contains a visual selection of some of these stories. This is the MMT from a very different approach.and is due for publication in 2012 to coincide with its 45th Anniversary.
